Laboratory Services

SCHD#1 offers comprehensive lab services and provides accurate and timely test results. The department is staffed from 7 am till 5 pm Monday thru Friday for routine testing. Lab personnel are also available on call for all emergency needs 24 hours a day. Tests are conducted with a physician's order only.

The department performs about 50,000 individual tests and 3,150 blood draws on average each year. An advanced computer system that utilizes barcode identification helps guarantee accuracy and tracking of specimens. A team built of qualified personnel with over 75 years combined clinical laboratory experience. SCHD#1 laboratory is a CLIA certified clinical lab.

A complete blood bank service is also available with blood and blood products provided by the American Red Cross Central Plains Chapter in Wichita.

Common Lab Studies Performed at SCHD#1 include:

Chemistry Profiles to screen for specific disease processes.
Special Chemistry profiles to screen for cancers, heart attacks, CHF and thyroid problems.
Screening for Strep, Flu, Mono, Pregnancy and C-Diff.
Hematology tests such as CBC, Hemoglobin, and platelet counts.
Department of Transportation drug screen collections and breath-alcohol testing.
EKG and 24 hour Holter Monitoring testing.
